Family time is so important. We all have such busy lives. As a working parent, I don’t have much free time. My son is also always on the go too what with school, clubs, parties and play dates. That’s why the summer holidays are the perfect time to recharge and spend time together as a family.
Playing games with family members is a great way to spend quality time together. It can be a way to bond and learn about each other away from all the other distractions. It’s also a wonderful way to get everyone off their screens!
This summer auraprint has put together an amazing pack of playing cards for the whole family to enjoy. We spent a happy sunny Sunday afternoon sitting under the pergola in our garden playing matching pairs, the seaside edition. My son loved it – and so did I.
Matching Pairs
Matching pairs is a game that has been around for centuries but is still so much fun. Auraprint has really brought it a new lease of life! It is a simple game that requires no reading or writing skills and can be played by anyone, regardless of age. That’s why both children and adults love it.
The rules are simple. The game can be played in many ways, but the most common way to play match pairs is to lay out a grid of cards and then take turns laying down cards one at a time. Each player takes it in turns to reveal two cards. It starts as luck but after awhile you need to rely on your memory to remember where the matching pair is if it has been previously revealed. So not only is it fun it’s also great for brain training too. I love a game that makes you have to think, focus and concentrate whilst laughing out loud!

As you can see from the photos on this blog post these cards have fun bright and colourful illustrations which my six-year-old son absolutely loved. From seagulls, starfish and crabs, to flip-flops, surfboards and much more, the pictures are fabulous fun!
It was also so much fun matching the pairs. The cards are such good quality and they are also perfect to take away with you. As they are lightweight and will fit in your pocket you can literally take them anywhere. Ideal for a day out if there’s a train or car journey involved to keep the kids busy. We’re going to take them camping with us later in the summer. The seaside edition might actually end up coming to the seaside with us!
